OpenAI has launched Premium seats for ChatGPT Business to provide high-capacity users with significantly expanded usage limits. This update allows businesses to mix Standard and Premium seats within a single secure workspace to accommodate varying levels of AI demand across a team.

Expanded Usage Capacity for Power Users

Premium seats provide 5x more usage than Standard seats and remove the five-hour usage limit, ensuring that users working on large-scale projects—such as analyzing business performance, building marketing campaigns, or developing features across large codebases—can work without interruption.

Key technical specifications of Premium seat usage include:

• 5x Usage Increase: Users receive five times the capacity of Standard seats.
• Removal of Time-Based Limits: The five-hour usage limit is eliminated.
• Predictable Resets: Usage resets occur on a weekly basis.
• Additional Capacity: Businesses can add shared workspace credits, managed by the workspace owner, if usage limits are still exceeded.

Flexible Workspace Management

ChatGPT Business now supports a hybrid seat model, allowing administrators to assign different seat types to different team members within the same secure workspace. This prevents the need for separate subscriptions or fragmented workflows.

Workspace owners and admins can perform the following actions:

• Hybrid Seat Allocation: Mix Standard and Premium seats within one team.
• Dynamic Reassignment: Upgrade or reassign seats as business needs evolve.

Pricing and Promotional Offer

Premium seats are priced at $125 per user per month (or $100 per user per month when billed annually). Standard seats remain at $25 per user per month (or $20 per user per month when billed annually).

For a limited time, the first 10,000 eligible ChatGPT Business customers who sign up by August 20 can receive $100 in workspace credits (2,500 credits) for each Premium seat added, up to a maximum of five seats ($500 in total credits). Eligible workspace owners may also be selected for early access before general availability.
