xAI Grok 4.3 Skills Release

xAI has introduced Skills for Grok 4.3, a feature set that allows the AI to maintain persistent expertise across conversations. This update enables Grok to generate production-ready office documents and allows users to create and save custom workflows and preferences to eliminate repetitive prompting.

Persistent Expertise and Custom Skills

Skills enable Grok to remember user preferences, formatting rules, and specific workflow steps across different conversations. This removes the need for users to repeat instructions in every new session.

Users can create custom skills in several ways:

  • Conversational Creation: Describing the desired skill directly to Grok through chat.
  • File Uploads: Uploading a file to define the skill's parameters.
  • Manual Entry: Writing the skill from scratch.
  • Workflow Capture: Asking Grok to save a perfected format or workflow learned during a session as a permanent skill.

Built-in Office Document Generation

Every Grok account includes a set of pre-configured skills from xAI that allow for the instant generation and editing of professional documents. User-created versions of these skills take priority over the built-in defaults.

Word Documents (.docx)

Grok can create and edit Word documents with full formatting, including headings, tables, bullet points, and consistent styling. This is applicable for producing professional invoices, contracts, proposals, and resumes.

Presentations

The system can build complete slide decks from scratch for use in quarterly reviews, pitches, and workshops. These decks include a visual hierarchy and speaker notes.

Spreadsheets

Grok can generate formatted spreadsheets featuring formulas, color-coded sections, and clear structures for budgets, dashboards, and forecasts.

PDF Reports

Capabilities include the creation, merging, splitting, and extraction of data from PDFs. Grok can generate polished, styled PDF reports and research papers suitable for conference submissions.
