Anthropic Opens Milan Office to Support Italian Enterprise and Research

Anthropic has opened a new office in Milan, marking its sixth European location alongside London, Dublin, Paris, Zurich, and Munich. This expansion is designed to support Italian companies, the developer community, and research institutions in building and scaling with Claude responsibly.

Strategic Expansion into Italy

Anthropic's new Milan office will serve as a hub for supporting Italian enterprise, research, and culture during the AI transition. The office is led by Thomas Remy, Head of Southern Europe, and aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse regarding artificial intelligence within Italian industry and public life.

Enterprise Adoption and Case Studies

Several major Italian companies across diverse sectors have already integrated Claude into their operations:

• Finance: Generali Group and Unipol Group.
• Life Sciences: Angelini Pharma and Bracco Group.
• Energy: Enel Group.
• Automotive: Pirelli.

Specific performance gains have been reported through strategic partnerships:

• JAKALA: Through a partnership with JAKALA, Claude was deployed across more than 3,000 seats, resulting in senior team members freeing up approximately 70% of their time for higher-judgment client work.
• Satispay: The financial super app deployed Claude across its engineering teams, which compressed an 18-month roadmap into seven months and enabled the core payment system to be updated ten times faster than planned.
• Bending Spoons: A significant portion of code changes at this technology company are now co-authored using Claude Code.

Integration with Italian Culture and Design

Anthropic is extending the use of Claude into the creative sectors. During Milan Design Week, the company partnered with Alcova Milano to conduct hands-on workshops for creative professionals, demonstrating how Claude integrates with tools used by industrial, furniture, and spatial designers.

Ethical Frameworks and Global Dialogue

The opening of the Milan office follows the release of Magnifica Humanitas, the first papal teaching dedicated to artificial intelligence by Pope Leo XIV. Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah spoke at the presentation of the encyclical, addressing the ethical questions raised by AI and advocating for the involvement of religious traditions, civil society, academia, and governments to ensure a positive outcome for humanity.

Chris Ciauri, MD International at Anthropic, stated that the company is optimistic about frontier AI's potential for Italy's industrial groups, founders, universities, and cultural institutions, emphasizing that the transition to AI requires a multidisciplinary approach involving voices from industry and civil society to protect human dignity.
