Anthropic Expands Compute Partnership with Google and Broadcom

Anthropic has entered into a new agreement with Google and Broadcom to secure multiple gigawatts of next-generation Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) capacity. This infrastructure expansion, expected to come online starting in 2027, is designed to support the development of frontier Claude models and meet accelerating global customer demand.

Compute Infrastructure Expansion

Anthropic is scaling its compute capacity through a partnership with Google and Broadcom to deploy next-generation TPUs. This commitment represents the company's most significant compute investment to date, aimed at keeping pace with exponential growth in its user base and maintaining the frontier of AI development.

Financial Growth and Customer Demand

Customer demand for Claude has accelerated significantly in 2026. Anthropic reports that its run-rate revenue has surpassed $30 billion, increasing from approximately $9 billion at the end of 2025.

Additionally, the company has seen a rapid increase in high-value business customers. As of February 2026, over 500 business customers were spending over $1 million on an annualized basis; this number has now exceeded 1,000, doubling in less than two months.

Strategic Infrastructure Siting and Investment

The majority of the new compute capacity will be located in the United States. This move expands upon a November 2025 commitment by Anthropic to invest $50 billion in American computing infrastructure.

Multi-Platform Hardware Strategy

Anthropic utilizes a diverse hardware ecosystem to optimize performance and resilience. Claude is trained and operated across three primary AI hardware platforms:

  • Google TPUs
  • AWS Trainium
  • NVIDIA GPUs

This multi-chip strategy allows Anthropic to match specific workloads to the most suitable hardware. While Amazon remains the primary cloud provider and training partner—including ongoing collaboration on Project Rainier—Claude is the only frontier AI model available across all three major cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services (Bedrock), Google Cloud (Vertex AI), and Microsoft Azure (Foundry).
