Anthropic Appoints Guillaume Princen as Head of EMEA and Expands European Operations
Anthropic has appointed Guillaume Princen as Head of EMEA to lead the expansion of its European operations. This move signals a deepening investment in the region, including the creation of over 100 new roles this year across sales, engineering, research, and business operations, primarily concentrated in the Dublin and London offices.
Strategic Expansion in EMEA
Anthropic is scaling its presence in Europe and the UK to meet increasing demand for Claude's AI capabilities. The expansion is focused on providing advanced performance, security, and reliability to both major enterprises and the startup ecosystem.
According to Daniela Amodei, President and co-founder of Anthropic, the region has been central to the company's vision since the launch of Claude in Europe last year, which resulted in rapid organic growth among businesses and consumers.
Leadership and Expertise
Guillaume Princen will lead this growth phase. He joins Anthropic with a background in scaling technology companies across diverse markets. His experience includes:
- Stripe: As Stripe's first employee outside the United States (joining in 2014), he spent seven years building and scaling European operations and opening 12 offices.
- Mooncard: Most recently served as the CEO of the European expense management platform.
- Other Experience: His background encompasses engineering, strategic consulting at McKinsey & Company, and roles as an investor and advisor in the European technology startup ecosystem.
Regional Infrastructure and Hiring Goals
Anthropic is expanding its existing footprint in Dublin and London, while building on the recent opening of a research-focused office in Zurich led by AI scientist Neil Houlsby.
To support its growing European customer base and align with the region's expectations for responsible AI development, Anthropic intends to hire for a variety of roles over the next year. These roles will over 100 new positions in sales, engineering, research, and business operations.
