What it solves

This project provides an open-source robotic system designed to open pin-tumbler locks by automating the brute-force process of testing pin combinations, offering an alternative to skeleton keys for locksmiths and lock-sport enthusiasts.

How it works

The robot uses a hollow key blank to feed copper wire into a lock to press each pin. It systematically tests all possible pin combinations through brute force, ignoring security pins because it does not rely on force feedback. The time to unlock depends on the lock's entropy (number of pins and cut depths), with each combination taking approximately 0.7 seconds to test.
