Brushless DC motor controller

What it solves

It provides a complete, open-source design for high-performance brushless servo actuators, integrating hardware (PCBs and mechanical designs) and firmware to enable precise motor control in robotic systems.

How it works

The project combines custom PCB designs for different power levels (such as the r4.11, c1, n1, and x1 models) and dedicated firmware to drive brushless motors. It uses an STM32G4 CPU for the r4.11 model and supports high-speed communications via 5Mbps CAN-FD.

Who it’s for

Robotics engineers and makers who need high-power, high-frequency control of brushless motors for their machines.

Highlights

  • High control rates (15-30kHz) and PWM switching rates (15-60kHz).
  • Multiple hardware configurations available for different power and current requirements.
  • Full open-source access to mechanical, electrical, and electrical designs.
  • High peak electrical power capabilities, ranging from 250W to 1.3kW depending on the model.
