career‑ops – an open‑source AI job‑search assistant

What it is – A locally‑run command‑line tool that uses large‑language‑model APIs (Claude, Codex, Qwen, etc.) to help you decide whether a job posting is worth applying for, tailor your résumé and cover letter, and draft outreach messages. All processing happens on your own machine; no data is sent to the project’s servers.

Key capabilities

• Job‑fit scoring – Paste a job description URL or text; the tool checks if the posting is still live, scores the match against your CV, and flags hard blockers (e.g., no sponsorship).
• Document generation – Automatically creates an ATS‑friendly PDF résumé and a research‑backed cover‑letter, both styled with built‑in HTML + Playwright pipelines.
• Company research & contact discovery – Retrieves recent news, AI strategy, and identifies hiring managers or recruiters, then drafts a short LinkedIn message.
• Interview & offer prep – Collects STAR stories, suggests negotiation scripts, and provides a contract‑reading companion with salary‑gap analysis.
• Pipeline tracking – A terminal UI lets you browse, filter, and sort your applications; scripts analyse rejection patterns and overall funnel statistics.
• Extensible plugin system – Optional integrations (Gmail, Notion, Apify, etc.) can be enabled but are disabled by default.

How you use it

1. Run npx @santifer/career-ops init (or install globally). This clones the repo, installs Node dependencies, and launches an interactive chat that gathers your CV and profile.
2. Paste a job URL or JD text; the AI evaluates it and returns a report, PDFs, and suggested next steps.
3. Review the drafts, edit as needed, and manually submit the application.

Privacy model – Your résumé, job data, and generated drafts never leave your computer. The only external calls are to the LLM provider you configure (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI). No telemetry or backend storage is used.

Who it’s for – Job seekers who are comfortable with a terminal/CLI environment and want AI assistance without handing over their personal data to a SaaS platform.

Community & support – Open‑source on GitHub, with a public “HIRED” story board, a Discord community, and a manifesto that invites contributions. Sponsors (e.g., SerpApi) provide free API access but do not influence the product roadmap.
