Mistral AI has launched a comprehensive update to le Chat, transforming it into an AI assistant for both personal and professional use. The update introduces high-speed inference, advanced document and image understanding, sandboxed code execution, and a new tiered service structure including Pro, Team, and Enterprise options.

High-Performance Inference and Grounding

Le Chat now features "Flash Answers," a preview feature that enables the assistant to reason and respond at speeds up to 1,000 words per second. This performance is driven by Mistral's lowest-latency models and high-speed inference engines.

To ensure responses are evidence-based and nuanced, le Chat integrates pre-trained knowledge with real-time information sourced from web search, journalism (via Mistral's partnership with AFP), and social media.

Advanced Multimodal Capabilities

Document and Image Understanding

Le Chat utilizes vision and optical character recognition (OCR) models to process complex files. This allows the assistant to accurately analyze PDFs, spreadsheets, log files, and intricate imagery.

Image Generation

Image generation within le Chat is powered by Black Forest Labs' Flux Ultra model, enabling the creation of photorealistic images, corporate creatives, and shareable content.

Code Interpreter

Le Chat introduces a sandboxed Code Interpreter, allowing users to perform scientific analysis, run simulations, create visualizations, and validate algorithms through in-place code execution.

User Experience and Personalization

Memories and Micro-Apps

An opt-in feature called "Memories" is being rolled out to allow le Chat to remember user preferences and past conversations for personalized learning and goal tracking. Additionally, users can build "le Chat Agents" to create personal micro-apps for tasks such as scheduling or finance tracking.

Creative Tools

Beyond chat, the assistant includes a free-form "Canvas" for research mockups, essays, and visual designs.

Enterprise and Professional Tiers

Mistral AI has introduced three distinct service tiers to accommodate different user needs:

  • Free Tier: Provides access to the latest models, journalism integration, image generation, and document uploads.
  • Pro Tier: Starting at $14.99 per month, this tier offers upgraded limits and expanded access to the fastest service levels.
  • Team Tier: Features unified billing, management, and priority support.
  • Enterprise Tier (Private Preview): Allows businesses to deploy le Chat within their own secure environments (SaaS, on-prem, or VPC), connect to custom tools, and use customized models tailored to enterprise context.

Future Roadmap

Mistral AI announced that data connectors and multi-step agents are coming soon. These features will enable le Chat to integrate directly with work environments—including email, messaging systems, and databases—to automate complex tasks that require switching between multiple tools.
