Anthropic and SK Telecom Partnership Announcement

Anthropic and SK Telecom (SKT), South Korea's largest mobile operator, have partnered to develop a large language model (LLM) specifically optimized for the telecommunications sector. This collaboration combines Anthropic's AI capabilities with SKT's domain expertise to create a multilingual model capable of serving telcos globally.

Customizing Claude for Telecommunications

Anthropic will use a process called fine-tuning to create a custom version of the Claude LLM tailored to the telco industry. By leveraging SKT's domain experience, the model will be optimized for a wide range of applications, including:

• Customer Service: Improving automated interactions and support.
• Marketing and Sales: Enhancing outreach and conversion strategies.
• Interactive Consumer Applications: Developing new AI-driven consumer experiences.

The Role of Expert Feedback in Fine-Tuning

To ensure the model's performance on industry-specific solutions, SKT's industry experts will provide direct feedback on Claude's responses. This feedback loop allows Anthropic to harness the expertise of SKT's talent to further train the model, effectively scaling the expertise of the company's leading professionals.

Multilingual Support and Global Reach

The resulting model will be multilingual, supporting several languages including Korean, English, Japanese, and Spanish, among others. This allows the telecommunications providers to deploy the AI technology across different global markets.

Strategic Investment and Leadership

SK Telecom has invested an additional $100 million in Anthropic, following a previous investment from SK Telecom Venture Capital (SKTVC).
