Anthropic Economic Advisory Council Announcement

Anthropic has established the the Anthropic Economic Advisory Council to provide expert guidance on the economic implications of AI development and deployment. This council is designed to inform the research agenda for the Anthropic Economic Index, an initiative dedicated to tracking and understanding AI's impact on the global economy and labor markets over time.

Purpose and Objectives of the Economic Advisory Council

The Economic Advisory Council serves as a strategic advisory body to help Anthropic navigate the socioeconomic challenges and opportunities presented by advancing AI capabilities. The primary goal is to provide domain expertise to expand research into how AI shifts the way people work and the broader effects on economic growth.

Anthropic intends for this research to serve as a critical resource for three primary groups:

Policymakers: To help them weigh and prepare for AI's economic impact.
Researchers: To provide data-driven insights into labor market shifts.
Business Leaders: To assist in planning for the integration of AI into the workforce.

Integration with the Anthropic Economic Index

The Council's work is directly linked to the Anthropic Economic Index. This index aims to quantify and analyze the evolution of the global economy as AI capabilities advance. Anthropic noted that AI is already shifting how individuals approach daily tasks in their work, as detailed in their latest Economic Index report regarding the impact on software development.
