Three Pillars of the Economic Futures Program

The Economic Futures Program is structured around three interdependent pillars designed to move from data collection to actionable policy:

2. Evidence-Based Policy

The program creates forums for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to evaluate policy proposals grounded in real-world data, ensuring that responses to AI's economic shifts are based on empirical evidence.

3. Economic Measurement and Data

Building upon the Anthropic Economic Index, the program will scale the index to create longitudinal datasets that track AI's economic usage and impact, with regular public data and research releases.

Program Implementation and Funding

To execute these pillars, Anthropic has established three primary mechanisms for engagement:

  • Economic Futures Research Awards: Rapid grants of up to $50,000 are available for empirical research on AI's economic impacts. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with initial awards issued in mid-August.
  • Economic Futures Symposia: Anthropic is seeking actionable, evidence-based policy recommendations for the labor market and economy. Selected authors will be invited to present at symposia in Washington, DC (September 2025) and London (November 2025). Proposals for the Washington event are due July 25, 2025, and for the London event are due September 12, 2025.
  • Strategic Partnerships with Research Institutions: Anthropic is offering API credits and resources to independent research institutions that contribute to the study of AI's economic use and application.
