KPMG and Anthropic Strategic Alliance for Global Claude Integration

KPMG has entered into a global strategic alliance with Anthropic to integrate Claude AI across its entire business operations and workforce of more than 276,000 employees. This partnership embeds Claude into KPMG's core software infrastructure to accelerate client delivery in tax, legal, and private equity sectors while enhancing internal cybersecurity capabilities.

Firm-Wide Deployment of Claude AI

Every one of KPMG's 276,000+ global employees will receive access to Claude. This rollout expands upon two years of internal adoption within KPMG US, including its internal teams and AI and Data Labs.

Beyond general access, the alliance focuses on two primary operational areas:

• Cybersecurity: KPMG and Anthropic are utilizing Claude to identify and remediate vulnerabilities in critical systems, governed by KPMG's Trusted AI framework.
• Business Function Modernization: The firms are co-developing new offerings and modernizing internal business functions to solve previously unsolvable problems.

Integration with Digital Gateway Platform

KPMG is embedding Claude directly into Digital Gateway, the firm's primary platform for client work built on Microsoft Azure. Digital Gateway serves as the central hub for KPMG's proprietary tools, tax expertise, and client data.

By integrating Claude Cowork and Managed Agents, KPMG professionals and clients can now build AI capabilities directly within the platform. According to Rema Serafi, Vice Chair of Tax at KPMG US, this integration reduces the time required to build AI agents—such as those helping clients adapt to changing tax regulations—from weeks to minutes by eliminating the need to switch between multiple tools and chat windows.

Private Equity and Portfolio Modernization

KPMG has been designated as a preferred partner for private equity (PE), focusing on deploying Claude and Anthropic's agents into PE portfolio companies. This partnership aims to help portfolio companies build AI-driven products, processes, and services responsibly.

To support this, KPMG introduced a portfolio of PE-focused offerings, including KPMG Blaze. This tool embeds Claude Code to accelerate the modernization of legacy IT systems and reduce the time required to ship new AI-enabled technology.

Research on Human-AI Collaboration

To optimize the deployment of these tools, KPMG and the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin are conducting joint research on the "human in the loop" model. The research emphasizes that the value of AI is derived not only from the technology but from how employees exercise judgment and shape workflows.

"We find that the greatest value comes not just from technical adoption, but from the ways employees exercise judgment, shape workflows, interface with the technology, evaluate its outputs, and make decisions with AI," stated Ethan Burris, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at McCombs School of Business at UT Austin.
