The OpenAI Jobs Platform

The OpenAI Jobs Platform is a matching service designed to connect AI-savvy employees and freelancers with businesses of all sizes. The platform uses AI to match candidates' skills with specific company needs, facilitating the hiring of experienced AI talent at all levels.

Support for Local Businesses and Governments

The platform includes a dedicated track to help local businesses compete and enable local governments to find the AI talent necessary to improve constituent services. For example, the Texas Association of Business is utilizing the platform to connect thousands of Texas employers with talent capable of modernizing their business operations.

OpenAI Certifications and the OpenAI Academy

To provide a standardized way for employers to verify AI fluency, OpenAI is introducing OpenAI Certifications. These certifications will be expanded from the existing OpenAI Academy—a free online learning platform that has already reached over 2 million people—to offer tiered levels of AI fluency.

Certification Levels and Delivery

Certifications will cover a range of skills, from basic AI usage in the workplace to advanced prompt engineering and AI-custom jobs. Training and preparation will be delivered directly within ChatGPT via a dedicated "Study mode," allowing users to become certified without leaving the application. Companies can also integrate these certifications into their own internal learning and development programs.

Goal and Scale

OpenAI has committed to certifying 10 million Americans by 2030. This effort is supported by launch partners such as Walmart, the largest private employer in the world. According to John Furner, CEO of Walmart U.S., the initiative allows Walmart to bring AI training directly to associates to help them "shape the future of retail."

Strategic Alignment and Implementation

OpenAI is implementing these programs as part of a commitment to the White House's efforts to expand AI literacy. To avoid the pitfalls of previous upskilling programs, OpenAI is grounding its training in the actual needs of employers identified through the Jobs Platform to ensure a better match between skill supply and demand.
