TaxHacker is a self-hosted accounting application designed for freelancers, indie-hackers, and small businesses to automate the tedious process of expense and income tracking. It eliminates manual data entry by using AI to extract financial information from receipts, invoices, and PDFs.

How it works

Users upload photos or PDFs of financial documents. The system uses a Large Language Model (LLM) to recognize and extract key data—such as product names, amounts, dates, merchants, and taxes—and saves it into a structured database. It supports various LLM providers including OpenAI, Google Gemini, Mistral, and local LLMs via OpenAI-compatible APIs (like Ollama or vLLM). The app also handles automatic currency conversion for over 170 world currencies and 14 cryptocurrencies based on historical exchange rates.
