termio-sh/termio

A terminal-first agentic development environment for agentic coding. Build for CLI/TUI agent. Runtime for Coding Agent, Tmux alternative

What it solves

Termio addresses the friction of managing multiple AI coding agents that operate via the command line. Instead of manually tracking various terminal windows and missing when an agent is blocked or needs user input, Termio provides a centralized environment that monitors agent statuses and allows for seamless switching between local and remote sessions.

How it works

Termio uses a daemon called termiod to manage shell sessions. This architecture ensures that sessions remain active even if the client app is closed, similar to tmux. It integrates with CLI agents (like Claude Code, Codex, and others) by installing hooks and "skills" that allow the agents to communicate their status (working, idle, or needs you) back to the Termio interface. It supports remote development by installing the daemon on Linux VPS via SSH, allowing users to attach to remote agents as if they were local.

Who it’s for

Developers who use multiple CLI-based AI agents for coding and want a dedicated environment to orchestrate these agents across local and remote machines without needing to master complex terminal multiplexers.

Highlights

  • Agent Status Tracking: Visual indicators in the sidebar and menu-bar notifications signal when an agent is blocked and needs user attention.
  • Persistent Sessions: Sessions live in a daemon, meaning they persist across app restarts or laptop sleep cycles.
  • Remote ADE: Easy setup on Linux VPS via SSH, treating remote sessions as first-class objects.
  • Integrated Tooling: Includes a built-in file editor with syntax highlighting, a git diff viewer, and project-wide search.
  • CLI Control: A termio command-line tool allows users (or other agents) to spawn, list, and interact with sessions programmatically.
  • Mobile Companion: An iOS app that mirrors live TUI sessions with a specialized keyboard for terminal commands.
