A terminal window manager that knows what your agents are doing. Tiling panes, workspaces, sessions that survive restarts, and one Inbox for every coding agent.
What it solves
TUIOS is a modern terminal multiplexer and window manager that replaces traditional tools like tmux. It solves the problem of managing multiple terminal sessions and panes while providing deep integration for AI coding agents, allowing users to monitor agent state, manage approvals, and coordinate multiple agents across different machines from a single interface.
How it works
Built with Go and the Charm stack (Bubble Tea and Lipgloss), TUIOS uses a daemon-backed architecture to keep sessions persistent. It implements Binary Space Partitioning (BSP) for tiling and supports advanced terminal protocols like the Kitty graphics protocol for flicker-free image and video rendering. For AI agents, it provides a specialized "Inbox" and state reporting system (via OSC 7501) that allows agents to report their progress and request human intervention without the user needing to manually check every pane.
Who it’s for
It is designed for developers and power users who utilize terminal-based workflows and AI coding agents (such as Claude Code or Gemini CLI), as well as those who manage workloads across multiple remote hosts via SSH.
Highlights
- Agent Orchestration: Dedicated Inbox for approvals and questions, agent state tracking in the sidebar, and "Fleets" for running prompts across multiple agents.
- Coded-in-Go Performance: Event-driven rendering for near-zero idle CPU usage and support for high-performance graphics protocols.
- Advanced Tiling: Supports BSP, master-stack, and scrolling layouts with smart auto-splitting.
- Remote Management: Ability to run hosted panes and global sessions across multiple remote machines.
- Vim-like Experience: Modal interface with a Vim-style copy mode for navigating scrollback.
- Automation: "Tape Scripting" DSL for recording and replaying terminal workflows.
