What it solves
Coding agents often produce generic, low-quality user interfaces (referred to as "AI-slop"). Superdesign provides these agents with design judgment, allowing them to generate high-quality, considered UI, presentations, and graphics that align with a specific design system rather than relying on default component libraries.
How it works
It functions as a "skill" or plugin that can be integrated into various coding agents (such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex). The system works by:
- Establishing Context: It can extract a design system from an existing codebase or create a new one based on style references and user preferences.
- Replica Templates: For existing apps, it creates a pixel-perfect HTML replica of the current UI to serve as a baseline.
- Iterative Design: Using a CLI, the agent can create projects, branch different design variations (e.g., "minimal" vs "bold"), and refine drafts on an infinite canvas.
- Inspiration Tools: It includes tools to search a prompt library or extract "design DNA" (style guides and tokens) from existing websites via URL.
Who it’s for
Developers, indie hackers, and product/UI designers who want to rapidly move from an idea to a shippable, high-fidelity UI without leaving their terminal-based coding environment.
Highlights
- Cross-Agent Compatibility: Works with over 70 supported coding agents.
- Design System Integration: Designs into existing systems by reading code for context rather than just swapping themes.
- Infinite Canvas: Generates and iterates on UI, slide decks, and graphics in a branchable visual workspace.
- Website Extraction: Ability to extract style guides and design tokens directly from a URL.
