skalesapp/skales

Personal AI desktop agent for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android & iOS. Set a goal, it works on its own. Teams (pair two desktops, agents + humans), Agent2Agent, Workflows, Codework, multi-agent orgs, desktop + browser automation. 15+ AI providers, BYOK. No Docker, no terminal. Agent Skills (SKILL.md). Migration importer. Recurring autonomous tasks.

What it solves

Skales is a local-first AI agent designed to move beyond simple chat by performing actual work on your computer. It eliminates the complexity of typical AI agent setups (like Docker or terminal commands) and provides a private, secure environment where an AI can interact with your files, browser, calendar, and email without your data leaving your machine.

How it works

Skales runs as a native desktop application (Windows, macOS, Linux) and can be paired with a mobile app. It supports a variety of AI configurations: a built-in trial model (Skales IQ), local models via Ollama, or API keys from over 15 providers. The system uses a "goal" mechanism where users can assign autonomous tasks that the agent plans and executes in the background. It also features "Workflows" for repeatable tasks, which can be created by drawing steps on a canvas, teaching the agent through a chat session, or recording actual desktop interactions.

Who it’s for

It is designed for a broad range of users, from non-technical individuals (children and seniors) to developers and power users who need an AI companion to automate coding, design, and administrative tasks across their OS.

Highlights

  • Autonomous Background Goals: Assign complex tasks via /goal that the agent plans and executes independently, resuming work even after the app is closed.
  • Deep Coding Integration: A dedicated /code mode and /codework GUI that allow the agent to read folders, edit files with inline diffs, run tests, and deploy projects.
  • Computer Use: Ability to see and control the screen, including mouse clicks, keyboard input, and scrolling.
  • Skales Studio: A creative suite for designing slide decks, prototypes, and generating images, video, and music via various cloud and local engines.
  • Multi-Device Swarm: Pair multiple computers to distribute tasks across a network using the /swarm command.
  • Browser Agent: A built-in agent that can navigate websites, fill forms, and extract content to Markdown.
