Open source canva alternative
What it solves
Doory is an open-source, self-hostable alternative to Canva, providing a full-featured design editor in the browser. It eliminates the need for paid subscriptions, watermarks, and account requirements to start designing, while giving users full control over their data and infrastructure.
How it works
It uses a React 19 frontend with Fabric.js for the canvas and Yjs for real-time co-editing. The backend is powered by Django 5 and PostgreSQL, and the entire stack is deployable via Docker Compose. It supports guest mode for local browser storage and cloud storage for registered users.
Who it’s for
Content creators, businesses, and privacy-conscious users who want a professional graphic design tool that is free, open-source, and can be hosted on their own servers.
