BeefTV – AI‑native video creation workspace

What it is – BeefTV is a desktop‑first, high‑performance, lightweight application that lets you build AI‑generated multimedia (text, images, video, audio) on a free‑form canvas. It is built with React, Go and the Wails framework, runs on macOS and Windows, and is designed to keep the AI models you use under your control.

Why it matters – Unlike many tools that treat AI as a side‑button, BeefTV makes AI agents a core part of the creative workflow. The canvas lets you connect prompts, assets and model endpoints with nodes, turning a single generation into a reusable, editable production pipeline.

Core concepts

Step What you do
Idea / reference Import text prompts, images, video clips, audio, etc.
AI‑native canvas Drag‑and‑drop nodes, link them to define how data flows
Model + tools Attach any text‑to‑image, video, audio or transcription model you configure
Generated output Produce editable text, pictures, video, audio, storyboards
Iterate Keep the graph, reuse assets, refine results over time

Main features (as listed in the repo)

  • Generation – Prompt‑driven creation of text, images, video, and audio.
  • Node‑based workflow – Visual graph where each node represents a model, a transformation, or a media asset; edges define the data flow.
  • Asset management – Project library, personal asset library, and asynchronous task queue.
  • Model‑agnostic – You can plug in any provider (local or remote) for LLMs, diffusion models, video generators, etc.; no lock‑in to a single service.
  • Lightweight & performant – Optimised viewport rendering and decoupled media preview/generation so large projects stay responsive.
  • Local‑first workspace – All data lives on your machine; you can export or migrate projects.
  • Extensible – Built on React + Go; developers can add new model protocols or UI components.

Typical use‑cases

  1. AI‑assisted video storyboarding – Start with a text prompt, generate concept images, stitch them into a storyboard, then expand to full video.
  2. Rapid multimedia prototyping – Quickly produce a mix of text, graphics, audio, and video for marketing or educational content without leaving the app.
  3. Iterative creative pipelines – Keep a history of generated assets, edit parts (e.g., re‑render a single scene), and reuse them across projects.
  4. Custom model experimentation – Test different diffusion or text‑to‑video models by swapping the provider in the node graph.

Getting started (from the README)

# Clone the repo
git clone https://github.com/glanderness/BeefTV.git
cd BeefTV

# Build the desktop release (script handles OS‑specific packaging)
./scripts/build-beeftv-release.sh
  • Download the pre‑built binaries for macOS or Windows from the Releases page.
  • Follow the QUICKSTART.md for first‑time launch instructions and how to add your own model endpoints.
  • The repository also contains a QUICKSTART.md and a docs/desktop‑release.md for detailed environment requirements and local development.

Community & support

  • Official website: https://beeftv.app/
  • Community QR code (WeCom) and X/Twitter handle @beefnoode are linked in the README.
  • A demo video is provided in the releases (see the “产品演示” section).

Contributing & licensing

  • Contributions are welcomed via Issues and Pull Requests; see CONTRIBUTING.md for the workflow.
  • The project is released under the MIT License.
  • Third‑party attributions are listed in the NOTICE file.

Bottom line – BeefTV is a genuine, open‑source desktop application that integrates AI models directly into a visual, node‑based video creation environment, aiming for high performance, low resource usage, and full user control over the underlying models.
