Markra – Open‑source WYSIWYG Markdown editor with native AI

What it is – Markra is a desktop‑and‑web Markdown editor that lets you write in a true WYSIWYG view or in raw Markdown source. The key differentiator is built‑in AI assistance: you can ask an LLM to polish, rewrite, continue, summarize, translate, or otherwise edit selected text or an entire document. All edits are shown as a preview first, so nothing is changed without your approval.

Why it matters – Most Markdown editors are either pure text editors or live‑preview tools that require you to copy‑paste text to an external AI service. Markra integrates the AI workflow directly into the editor, keeps your files as plain .md on disk (local‑first), and lets you choose any OpenAI‑compatible provider or a local model (e.g., Ollama). This gives a smoother writing experience while preserving privacy.
