Markra is a local-first, open-source Markdown editor designed to integrate AI directly into the writing process. It eliminates the need to switch between a text editor and an AI chat interface by providing native AI tools for polishing, rewriting, and expanding content within a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) environment.

How it works

Users can write in either WYSIWYG or source mode, keeping all documents as plain .md files on their local disk. The editor integrates with various AI providers (including cloud, local, and OpenAI-compatible endpoints) to offer inline AI commands and a side-panel agent. A key safety feature is the "confirm before apply" workflow, where AI-generated edits are presented as previews that the user must accept or reject before they are committed to the document.
