The open-source skills that turn your agent into a full PR team.
What it solves
Newsjack provides a suite of "open skills" and a CLI that transforms AI agents into a comprehensive PR team. It automates the tedious parts of public relations, from monitoring industry news for "newsjacking" opportunities to drafting pitches and verifying journalist fit, reducing the need for expensive PR agencies or additional headcount.
How it works
The project consists of a set of plain-Markdown instructions (skills) that AI agents read, paired with a small open-source CLI. These skills are categorized into three functional lanes:
- Detect: Monitors industries, tracks coverage and competitors, and verifies the freshness of stories using news indices.
- Act: Generates story angles, ranks journalists at specific outlets, drafts responses to source queries, fact-checks claims, and creates branded press-clip PDFs (via Playwright in local agents).
- Strategize: Provides PR strategy walkthroughs, builds six-month PR calendars, and scores the newsworthiness of a story.
It can be installed as a CLI for local agents (like Claude Code or OpenClaw) or as a plugin for platforms like Claude.ai.
Who it’s for
- Founders managing their own PR to avoid high agency costs.
- PR agencies needing to scale the number of accounts they can manage.
- Marketers at small companies seeking operational leverage.
- AI Agent users who want to extend their agent's capabilities into professional communications.
Highlights
- Multi-Agent Compatibility: Works across various agents including Claude Code, Codex, Hermes, and OpenClaw.
- Journalist Fit-Checking: Analyzes whether a specific reporter is a good match for a pitch to avoid spamming.
- Voice Fingerprinting: Extracts a user's real writing style to remove "AI tells" from drafts.
- Automated Press Clipping: Converts live URLs into branded PDFs with clutter removed and mentions highlighted.
