Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) system with text-to-speech for the browser
What it solves
Cboard is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tool designed for individuals with speech and language impairments, such as those with autism or cerebral palsy, to communicate using symbols and text-to-speech synthesis.
How it works
The application is a web-based communication board. Users interact with a variety of symbols from popular AAC libraries; when a symbol is clicked, the app utilizes the browser's native Speech Synthesis API to generate the corresponding spoken word or phrase.
Who it’s for
It is primarily for people with speech and language impairments and the caregivers or educators who support them.
Highlights
- Extensive Symbol Libraries: Access to thousands of symbols from Mulberry, ARASAAC, and Global Symbols.
- Multilingual Support: Available in 40 languages to increase accessibility in non-developed countries.
- ** uma PWA**: Built as a Progressive Web App, allowing it to be loaded from local cache for faster access.
- Cross-Platform: Works across Android, iOS, and Windows browsers.
