Codex computer use, decoupled from the app, for usage inside any harness.
What it solves
LCU decouples the computer-use runtime from the official ChatGPT desktop application. It allows you to use the same computer-control capabilities—such as clicking, typing, and taking screenshots—within other AI agents and development harnesses without requiring you to be authenticated through the ChatGPT app.
How it works
LCU leverages the official computer-use runtime already installed by the ChatGPT desktop app on your machine. It acts as a bridge, allowing your chosen agent (such as Claude Code, Pi, or others) to interface with this runtime. It provides native approval panels within your terminal or Claude app, allowing you to manage which applications the agent is permitted to control using Touch ID or your system password.
Who it’s for
It is designed for developers and power users who want to integrate computer-use capabilities into their own AI agents or alternative development harnesses while maintaining granular control over app permissions and session lifecycles.
