Data science interview questions and answers

What it is.

A free, open collection of interview questions for data science jobs. The twist: answers are not written by the author — they come from the community. Anyone can contribute by suggesting changes through GitHub's "pull request" system.

How to contribute.

The README lists three ways to participate:

  • Add an answer to a question (make a pull request)
  • Improve an existing answer
  • Fix a mistake

The project owner also shares updates on Twitter and LinkedIn, and promotes a community called DataTalks.Club for talking about data.

What's inside.

The questions are organized into files by topic:

  • theory.md — theoretical questions (linear models, decision trees, neural networks, and similar)
  • technical.md — hands-on questions (SQL, Python, coding)
  • contrib/ — additional questions submitted by community members; currently contains a probability file (contrib/probability.md), and more can be added
  • awesome.md — a separate list of useful interview resources
  • contributors.md — credits the people who contributed

The README notes that more question categories are planned ("More to come"), but doesn't specify which.

License.

The project is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, which means you can share and adapt the content as long as you give credit.
