Zoo Code – AI‑powered coding assistant for VS Code

What it is – A Visual Studio Code extension that brings a conversational, LLM‑driven “dev‑team” right inside the editor. It can generate, refactor, debug, document, and automate code based on natural‑language prompts.

Core capabilities

• Code generation & editing – Write new files or modify existing ones by describing what you need in plain English.
• Multiple “modes” –
  • Code – everyday edits and file operations.
  • Architect – plan system designs, specs, migrations.
  • Ask – quick answers or explanations about the codebase.
  • Debug – add logs, trace issues, isolate root causes.
  • Custom – users can define their own workflows.
• Semantic search (Semble) – on‑demand, fast code‑base search without a separate indexing step.
• Robust orchestrator – handles parallel tasks, parent/child recovery, and isolates provider profiles.
• Safety guard (DCG) – blocks dangerous terminal commands automatically while allowing trusted work to continue.
• Broad model support – integrates with Claude, GPT, Gemini, Kimi, GLM, Grok, MiniMax and many others via providers such as Zoo Gateway, Moonshot, Kenari, Friendli, OpenCode Go, etc.
• Workspace controls – per‑mode model‑reasoning options, rule management, multi‑root path restrictions, and completion‑review actions.

How to get it

1. Install from the VS Code Marketplace (badge in the README) or build locally.
2. Development workflow:
   • pnpm install – fetch dependencies.
   • Press F5 in VS Code to launch a new window with the extension hot‑reloaded.
   • Or build a VSIX (pnpm vsix) and install with code --install-extension ….
