NousResearch/Hermes-Bot-Mode
Bot Mode for the Hermes desktop: a roster of named agents with their own chats, avatars, routines, and bot-to-bot messaging. Desktop plugin, no core patches.
What it solves
It transforms standard agent profiles into a manageable roster of distinct "bots," each with its own personality, avatar, chat history, and schedule. This allows users to organize multiple AI agents into specialized roles and coordinate them through group chats or direct bot-to-bot communication.
How it works
Bot Mode acts as a UI layer over Hermes profiles. Each bot is essentially a Hermes profile with isolated configuration, memory, and skills stored locally. The plugin uses gateway RPCs to create and edit profiles, leverages Hermes cron for recurring routines, and executes bot-to-bot messaging via CLI handoffs.
Who it’s for
Users of the Hermes Agent desktop application who want to manage a fleet of specialized AI agents rather than a single general-purpose profile.
Highlights
- Bot Roster & Groups: Organize bots into labeled sections and manage them via a dedicated pane with presence indicators.
- Group Chats: Create shared rooms (2-6 bots) where agents can coordinate, @mention each other, or escalate issues to the user.
- Bot-to-Bot Messaging: Enables persistent conversations between bots with attribution and protocol-based replies.
- Customizable Identities: Supports geometric avatars, AI-generated portraits, and animated "pet" companions.
- Automated Routines: Schedule recurring tasks per bot using the integrated Hermes cron system.
- Profile Cloning: Quickly duplicate a bot's entire configuration, including its SOUL.md and memory.
