What it is – CodeNomad is a desktop‑and‑browser application that sits on top of OpenCode V2, the neural‑code‑generation engine from OpenCode.ai. It provides a full‑featured workspace where developers can manage multiple projects, keep long AI‑driven conversations, and work with Git worktrees without leaving the UI.

Getting started

Desktop client (Electron or Tauri)

Download the appropriate archive for macOS, Windows or Linux from the Releases page.
Install (deb, AppImage, ZIP, or Windows installer). The bundles include Node.js, so no extra runtime is needed.
On first launch, point CodeNomad at an existing OpenCode V2 executable or let the setup wizard install it for you.
Open a folder, connect your model provider, and start a session.

Server mode (browser‑only)

npx @neuralnomads/codenomad --password "my‑pwd" --launch

Runs a local Node.js server that serves the UI at https://localhost. Add --host 0.0.0.0 for remote browsers.
Authentication is password‑based; a self‑signed TLS cert is generated automatically.

Prerequisites

OpenCode V2 (≥ 2.0.7, 2.0.21 recommended) – the AI engine that actually generates code.
Git – required for worktree features; must be in the backend’s PATH.
Node.js 24 LTS – needed for the server and for building from source (bundled with the desktop installers).

Extending the workspace

SideCars let you embed any local web service (e.g., VS Code Server, ttyd terminal) as a tab. Configure name, port, protocol, and path‑prefix handling in Preferences → SideCars.
Plugins (global or project‑scoped) can be activated from the UI to add custom tooling.
