A curated list of awesome Claude Skills, resources, and tools for customizing Claude AI workflows
What this project is
awesome-claude-skills is a curated, hand-picked list of 1,000+ ready-made Claude Skills (and plugins) that work not just with Claude.ai and Claude Code, but also with other coding agents like Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and Antigravity. It's a community index, linking out to real skills rather than hosting them.
What is a Claude Skill?
The README explains the format clearly. A skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md file — a header with the skill's name and description, plus Markdown instructions describing the workflow. It can optionally bundle scripts, reference docs, and assets. Anthropic introduced the format in October 2025 and released it as an open standard in December 2025.
Key mechanics:
- Progressive loading. When a session starts, the agent only sees each skill's name and description (~100 tokens each). The full instructions (typically under 5,000 tokens) load only if the agent decides the skill is relevant. Supporting files load on demand. This lets one agent hold hundreds of skills without bloating its context.
- Skills ≠ MCP servers ≠ tools. MCP is the connection layer (auth, transport, tool discovery). Tools are individual functions an agent invokes. Skills define the behavior — what to do, in what order, with what guardrails. All three layers run together in production.
The projects it points to
The list is organized into 10 categories: Document Processing, Development & Code Tools, Data & Analysis, Business & Marketing, Communication & Writing, Creative & Media, Productivity & Organization, Collaboration & Project Management, Security & Systems, and App Automation via Composio. Most entries link to external GitHub repos with a one-line description and author credit.
Notable examples from the README:
- Document Processing: skills to create/edit Word docs, extract from PDFs, generate slides, manipulate spreadsheets, convert Markdown to EPUB.
- Development: D3.js visualization, Playwright browser automation, iOS Simulator interaction, MCP server builder, test-driven development, git worktree management (from Anthropic's own
superpowersrepo). - Data & Analysis: CSV analysis, deep research agents, safe read-only PostgreSQL queries.
- Business: brand guidelines (using Anthropic's official colors), competitive ad extraction, domain name brainstorming, lead research.
- Communication: article extraction, brainstorming, meeting transcript analysis (behavioral patterns), Twitter algorithm optimization.
- Creative & Media: design system analysis from images/URLs/Figma files, image enhancement, Slack GIF generation.
The Composio hook, plus quickstart
Composio (the project's maintainer) ties into the list two ways:
- MCP Gateway — a single endpoint giving agents secure access to 1,000+ integrations, with built-in auth, team access controls, and audit logs.
- The
connect-appsplugin — the quickstart shows a 3-step setup: install the plugin viaclaude --plugin-dir ./connect-apps-plugin, run/connect-apps:setupand paste a free API key from dashboard.composio.dev, then restart Claude. After that, Claude can take real actions — send emails, create GitHub issues, post to Slack — across 1,000+ apps.
