Check Point Accelerates Vulnerability Research with OpenAI Daybreak

Accelerating Vulnerability Research with Daybreak

Check Point has integrated OpenAI’s Daybreak into its vulnerability research workflow, enabling the company to analyze vulnerabilities, reason through attack paths, and identify security gaps in minutes rather than hours. This integration is part of the OpenAI Daybreak Defense Network, providing security teams with frontier cyber models capable of translating complex vulnerability research into actionable threat protections.

Automating the Security Workflow

The core of Check Point’s security strategy involves expert analysts who investigate newly disclosed vulnerabilities and translate them into security signatures or indicators of compromise. Previously, this process was constrained by the manual capacity of the analyst team. By leveraging Daybreak, Check Point now automates significant portions of this investigative work. According to Jonathan Zanger, CTO of Check Point, the models possess the maturity to understand complex code and configurations, allowing analysts to move rapidly from threat identification to the development of customer-facing defenses.

Developing Autonomous Network Security

Beyond research acceleration, Check Point is collaborating with OpenAI to build an Agentic Network Security Orchestration solution. This system aims to combine continuous monitoring of customer environments with defined operational boundaries and human-in-the-loop oversight.

Key features of this proposed approach include:

  • Human-Centric Control: Customers define security objectives and retain approval authority over consequential actions taken by the system.
  • Explainability: The system provides clear explanations of its findings, recommended remediation steps, and the associated risks of those actions.
  • Real-time Prevention: By integrating Daybreak into existing workflows, the company aims to achieve a level of automation capable of preventing threats in real time.

As Zanger notes, "Combining OpenAI’s Daybreak with our existing security workflows unlocks a level of automation that can prevent threats in real time." The company’s focus is now shifting toward using these capabilities to streamline the remediation process for identified security gaps.
