Anthropic and NEC Partnership for AI-Native Engineering in Japan

Anthropic and NEC Corporation have entered into a strategic partnership to build one of Japan's largest AI-native engineering organizations. This collaboration focuses on deploying Claude to approximately 30,000 NEC Group employees worldwide and developing secure, domain-specific AI solutions for the Japanese market.

Deployment of Claude for NEC Customers

NEC and Anthropic are jointly developing secure AI products tailored for the Japanese market, specifically targeting the finance, manufacturing, cybersecurity, and local government sectors.

Key integrations include:

Cybersecurity: Claude is being integrated into NEC's Security Operations Center services and its next-generation cybersecurity service to defend against sophisticated threats.
NEC BluStellar Scenario: Claude Opus 4.7 and Claude Code will be incorporated into the NEC BluStellar Scenario program, which provides consulting, AI tools, security, and digital infrastructure. Initial offerings will focus on data-driven management and customer experience before expanding to other areas.

Internal AI-Native Engineering at NEC

NEC is utilizing the partnership to transform its internal engineering capabilities through two primary initiatives:

Center of Excellence

NEC is establishing a Center of Excellence to create a highly skilled, AI-enabled engineering organization. This effort is supported by technical enablement and training provided by Anthropic. Engineers within this organization will utilize Claude Code in their daily workflows.

Client Zero Initiative

Under its "Client Zero" initiative—where NEC acts as its own first customer to refine technology before commercial release—the company is expanding the use of Claude Cowork across its internal business operations.

Availability and Implementation

Claude is currently being deployed to NEC Group employees globally. The joint development of industry-specific AI solutions is now underway.
