xAI has introduced 21 new flagship voices for Grok Voice, expanding the library to support a wider range of use cases and improving the naturalness of existing voices. These updates are available via the Voice Agent API, Text to Speech API, and the new Grok Voice Agent Builder.

Expanded Voice Library and Multilingual Support

xAI has added 21 new voices to the original five, providing a diverse set of options tailored for specific applications such as support, characters, commentary, advertising, and education. All new voices are natively multilingual, supporting over 25 languages.

The new voice lineup includes:

• Aurora
• Liora
• Carina
• Zagan
• Helix
• Orion
• Luna
• Wellness

Delivery Control and Customization

Developers can control the delivery of Grok Voice using speech tags to modify pacing and tone. Supported tags include [pause] and <whisper> to ensure the output matches the the intended use case.

Beyond the predefined flagship voices, xAI provides the ability to clone a custom voice using approximately one minute of audio data.

Improvements to Original Voices

The original five voices—Ara, Eve, Leo, Rex, and Sal—have been retrained using an improved recipe. This update enhances the naturalness of their delivery, specifically improving pacing, phrasing, and emphasis.

The new voices and improvements are accessible through three primary channels:

1. Voice Agent API: For real-time speech-to-speech interactions.
2. Text to Speech API: For converting text to audio.
