OpenAI Leadership Team Update
OpenAI has restructured its executive leadership team to ensure continued momentum toward its next major milestones. The changes reflect the company's recent progress and are designed to align executive roles with the organization's evolving operational and technical needs.
Executive Role Transitions
OpenAI has appointed four key executives to new or expanded roles to better distribute leadership across technical development, business operations, and nonprofit governance.
Greg Brockman: President
Greg Brockman takes on the newly created role of President. This position recognizes his combined contributions to company strategy and direct coding contributions on the critical path. Brockman is currently focused on the training of OpenAI's flagship AI systems.
Brad Lightcap: Chief Operating Officer
Brad Lightcap has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO). Having previously overseen Finance, Legal, People, and Operations, Lightcap will now expand his focus to work with Applied AI teams to refine business and commercial strategies. He also continues to manage the OpenAI Startup Fund.
Mira Murati: Chief Technology Officer
Mira Murati has been named Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Over the past 18 months, Murati led research, product, and partnership functions, and was instrumental in the release of DALL·E research. Her new role reflects her leadership across these critical technical and product areas.
Chris Clark: Head of Nonprofit and Strategic Initiatives
Chris Clark is now the Head of Nonprofit and Strategic Initiatives. In this capacity, he will lead the operations of OpenAI's nonprofit parent organization and manage key strategic projects, including relationships with mission-aligned partners.
