xAI Team Bots release notes

Overview of Team Bots

Team Bots are shared AI teammates built on the Grok platform designed to work alongside teams by integrating with internal files, applications, and expertise. By centralizing context and tools, these bots allow team members to collaborate on shared workflows while maintaining individual privacy and personalized memory.

Core Components

Every Team Bot is constructed using four primary pillars that enable it to function within a professional environment:

  • Context: The bot is provided with relevant documentation, brand guidelines, and internal instructions to ensure its output aligns with organizational standards.
  • Plugins: Integration with third-party applications such as Salesforce, Notion, and GitHub allows the bot to perform actions directly within existing software stacks.
  • Credentials: Secure access to third-party APIs is supported for tools that lack a native plugin.
  • Memories: The bot retains information over time, allowing it to improve its performance and adapt to the specific needs of the team.

While the bot serves as a shared resource, it maintains separate context and memory for each individual user, ensuring that personal interactions remain private while collective skills are leveraged across the group. Teams can interact with these bots directly in Slack via dedicated handles.

Practical Applications

Team Bots are currently being utilized at SpaceXSI across several departments to automate context-heavy tasks:

  • Sales and Customer Success: Bots review daily communications and documentation to provide morning briefings, track strategy, and serve as a system of record for account history.
  • Product and Engineering: Bots integrate with tools like Linear, Datadog, and Cursor to triage bugs, manage tickets, and coordinate the deployment of Cloud Agents for code fixes.
  • Marketing: Bots enforce brand consistency by reviewing drafts against established guidelines and facilitating the launch of website updates.
  • Data Analytics: Bots provide self-service data access by querying approved tables in Databricks and using a pre-built library of analytical skills to answer technical questions.

Availability

Team Bots are available starting September 28, 2026, in public beta for Teams and Enterprise plans. Users can begin by configuring their own bots or utilizing pre-built templates designed for sales, product management, marketing, and data analytics workflows.
