OpenAI GPT Store Launch

OpenAI has launched the GPT Store, a centralized marketplace where ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise users can discover and use custom versions of ChatGPT. This launch follows the creation of over 3 million custom GPTs by users since their initial announcement two months prior.

GPT Discovery and Categorization

The GPT Store allows users to browse a community leaderboard of popular and trending GPTs. These custom models are developed by both OpenAI partners and the general community, organized into categories such as programming, research, writing, DALL·E, education, and lifestyle. OpenAI will also feature new GPTs on a weekly basis.

Requirements for Publishing GPTs

Creating a GPT does not require coding skills. To list a custom GPT in the store, builders must meet two primary requirements:

1. Visibility Settings: The GPT must be saved for "Everyone."
2. Builder Profile Verification: Builders must verify their profile via Settings, enabling either a verified website or their name.

To maintain safety and compliance, OpenAI has implemented a review system combining human and automated reviews, alongside existing safety measures and a user reporting mechanism for inappropriate content. Builders are required to adhere to OpenAI's usage policies and GPT brand guidelines.

Monetization for GPT Builders

OpenAI is introducing a GPT builder revenue program scheduled for launch in Q1. Initially, this program will provide payments to US-based builders based on user engagement levels with their GPTs. Specific payment criteria will be provided as the launch date approaches.

Enterprise and Team Workspace Management

With the introduction of the ChatGPT Team plan, OpenAI has added specialized management features for business users. Team customers have access to a private section of the GPT Store containing GPTs securely published to their specific workspace.

For ChatGPT Enterprise customers, the GPT Store will be available soon, featuring enhanced administrative controls. These controls allow administrators to manage how internal-only GPTs are shared and determine which external GPTs are permitted for use within the business. OpenAI specifies that conversations with GPTs within ChatGPT Team and Enterprise plans are not used to train or improve their models.
