Anthropic Expands in India with Bengaluru Office and Strategic Partnerships
Anthropic has officially opened its Bengaluru office to support India, its second-largest market for Claude.ai. This expansion includes strategic partnerships across the enterprise, education, and public sectors to scale the application of responsible AI and improve model performance for over a billion Indic language speakers.
Enhancing Indic Language Capabilities and Evaluations
Anthropic is working to reduce the performance gap between English and other Indian languages by curating higher-quality training data for 10 widely spoken languages: Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, and Urdu.
To ensure these improvements are grounded in local relevance, Anthropic is partnering with Karya and the Collective Intelligence Project to develop evaluations that test performance on tasks specific to Indian domains such as law and agriculture. These evaluations are being developed with domain experts from nonprofits like Digital Green and Adalat AI and will be made publicly available.
Enterprise Adoption and Software Development
Anthropic's run-rate revenue in India has doubled since October 2025. The company is deploying applied AI expertise to help Indian enterprises and startups design and scale Claude-powered solutions.

- Central Square Foundation: Collaborating to provide technical expertise, mentorship, and API credits to developers of personalized tutors, teacher coaching solutions, and assessment-driven instruction for primary school students.
Public Sector and Digital Public Infrastructure
Anthropic is leveraging India's digital public infrastructure to create population-scale impact in critical sectors:
- Agriculture: Partnering with the EkStep Foundation and using the OpenAgriNet effort to expand access to expert knowledge for the sector that employs nearly half of the Indian labor force.

- Nonprofit Operations: Providing Claude Code and Cowork to organizations like Noora Health and Intelehealth to improve health coaching and remote medical care.
Open Standards and the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
Anthropic is driving interoperability through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open-source standard donated to the Linux Foundation.
- Government Adoption: The Indian Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), supported by Bharat Digital, launched the first official Indian government MCP server, allowing AI systems to query authoritative national statistics.
- Private Sector Adoption: Swiggy uses MCP to enable users to order groceries and make dining reservations directly through Claude.
