Image2 UI by ONDesign — open-source UI generation toolkit for OpenAI Codex. Turn screenshots and ideas into editable frontend code.|基于 OpenAI Codex 的开源 UI 生成工具,将截图或想法变成可编辑、可交互的前端界面,支持断点续跑、视觉检查与图片素材复用。

What it solves

Image2 UI is a toolkit that transforms visual references—such as screenshots, design mockups, or text descriptions—into editable and interactive frontend code. It bridges the gap between a static image or idea and a working prototype, allowing designers and developers to rapidly iterate on UI layouts, typography, and visual details.

How it works

The project operates as a runtime and CLI tool that integrates with OpenAI Codex to handle the actual code generation. It supports three primary workflows:

  • Recreate: Rebuilds a layout based on a screenshot or reference image.
  • Redesign: Uses a reference and a new product direction to establish a new visual style.
  • Create: Generates a UI from a written product brief.

To ensure quality, the system uses a multi-agent scheduler to coordinate specialist implementation, review, and QA work. It also includes a visual quality check loop that compares the generated output against the active reference. Image assets (photos and illustrations) are managed separately from the frontend code (buttons, forms, and navigation).

Who it’s for

  • Frontend Developers: To quickly turn screenshots into working code.
  • UI/UX Designers: To prototype interactive interfaces from visual references or briefs.

Highlights

  • Resumable Execution: Stores state and event history so interrupted generation runs can be recovered and continued.
  • Multi-Agent Coordination: Uses a scheduler to manage specialized agents for implementation and QA.
  • Asset Management: Dedicated tooling for image generation and provenance tracking.
  • Verification Loops: Built-in audit and comparison tools to check generated code against the original reference image.
