Oh Story DSH – AI‑powered creative workbenches for DeepSeek Harness

What it is

• A community plugin for DeepSeek Harness (DSH), a web‑based AI agent platform.
• Adds four specialised workbenches inside the DSH UI:
  1. Novel – long‑form fiction writing.
  2. Short‑Drama – script, storyboard, visual & video prompt generation.
  3. Game – automatic adaptation of a novel into a playable web‑game (includes a demo based on Jin Ping Mei).
  4. Video Recap – turn a video into a Chinese narrated recap, with optional subtitle burning.
• The plugin does not replace DSH’s core agent runtime, chat, model handling or permission system – it only bundles a set of pre‑packaged Skills, Roles, and UI components that operate on the files in your workspace.

How it works

• All creative artefacts are plain files (Markdown, images, video assets). The workbenches simply project those files into a three‑pane UI (file tree, editor, chat). Agents write or modify files; the editor follows their changes.
• Media‑heavy steps (image generation, video synthesis, TTS, music) are optional and require you to expose the appropriate API keys as environment variables (e.g., OPENAI_API_KEY, ARK_API_KEY, MINIMAX_API_KEY). The plugin only checks whether the keys are present; it never stores credentials.
• The UI appears only when the current workspace actually contains a project of the corresponding type, otherwise DSH falls back to its native chat view.

Installation & requirements

• Requires Node 24+. The one‑liner command installs a temporary pnpm and adds the plugin to a DSH profile:

• You can also install the pre‑built .tgz from the GitHub release.
• For the video workbench you need Python 3.10+ and ffmpeg/ffprobe on the host machine. Some media providers (Seedance, MiniMax, GPT‑Image‑2) need additional environment variables.
• The plugin is version‑locked to DSH 0.2.1‑rc.2 (or the earlier 0.2.0‑rc.2). Mismatched versions are rejected with a clear error.

Typical workflow

1. Start DSH – a local web server opens at http://127.0.0.1:3080 with a token‑based login.
2. Create or open a workspace – point DSH to a folder containing your story, drama, game or video project.
3. Run a command (e.g., /story or /short-drama-write). The associated Agent writes the first file.
4. The workbench UI appears – you can browse generated files, edit them, and continue prompting the Agent.
5. Media production – when you reach a “produce” step, the UI shows a preview of the generated prompt and asks for confirmation before calling external APIs.
6. Export – finished games are served as a self‑contained index.html; video recaps are saved under outputs/.

• You already like the agent‑first approach of DeepSeek Harness and want a richer UI for long‑form or multimodal storytelling.
• You need a single, reproducible environment that bundles all the necessary skills (novel writing, drama storyboard, game adaptation, video recap) without manually installing each skill repo.
• You want the file‑centric workflow: everything lives in your local directory, making version control and backup straightforward.

Limitations

• The plugin does not provide its own model serving; you must configure a model provider (DeepSeek, OpenAI, etc.) in DSH.
• Media generation depends on third‑party APIs; without the required keys you can still generate text‑only artefacts but cannot produce images, video, or audio.
• The demo game contains adult content (18+) and will ask for age confirmation.
