t8y2/motty

SSH, SFTP, port forwarding, VNC/RDP and an AI assistant、MCP in one native window — a Go desktop app built on Viva, with no webview.

What is Motty?

Motty is a native desktop SSH workspace — a single window that combines a terminal, file transfer, port forwarding, remote desktop (VNC/RDP), and an AI assistant. It's built in Go using the Viva framework, so it has no Electron runtime, no embedded browser, and no JavaScript layer. This makes it fast to start, efficient, and lightweight.

  • Supports agent keys, identity files, OpenSSH certificates, PuTTY .ppk files, passwords, and keyboard-interactive.
  • Can store TOTP/HOTP seeds and passwords in an encrypted vault.
  • Imports from many SSH clients (OpenSSH, PuTTY, Xshell, etc.).

  • Browse, upload/download, rename, delete, with resume and atomic replace.
  • Built-in editor for UTF-8 files up to 1 MiB.
  • Can follow the terminal's folder automatically.

  • Local, remote, SOCKS5, HTTP CONNECT tunnels.
  • Jump routes verify each hop.
  • X11 forwarding with cookie validation.

🖥 Remote Desktops

  • VNC (RFB 3.3–3.8) and RDP (TLS with NLA).
  • Can connect through an SSH tunnel.

🤖 AI Assistant & MCP

  • Optional MCP server for external agents.

☁️ Backup & Sync

  • Encrypted .mottybak export.
  • Sync via WebDAV, S3, or GitHub Gist with conflict resolution.
