Move AI conversations between ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and DeepSeek with a local-first, open conversation format—no servers, no tracking.
ChatPassport – Move your conversation between AI chat assistants
What it does
ChatPassport is a Chrome extension that lets you copy the visible part (or the full history) of a conversation from one web‑based AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or DeepSeek) and paste it into a new draft on another assistant. It does the heavy lifting of reading the page, assembling the messages in the correct order, and inserting them into the destination editor, while leaving the final Send action to you.
Why it matters
Switching between large‑language‑model chat services is common – you may hit a context limit, want a second opinion, or simply prefer a different model. Manually copying dozens of messages is tedious and error‑prone. ChatPassport automates the transfer, shows you exactly what will be moved, and respects the destination’s character budget, so you keep full control of the context you provide.
Key features
- Supported assistants – ChatGPT (chat.openai.com, chatgpt.com), Claude (claude.ai), Gemini (gemini.google.com) and DeepSeek (chat.deepseek.com).
- Capture modes – Quick (only the messages currently rendered) or Load history (scrolls the page to collect older messages, up to ~2 minutes).
- Draft preview – After capture you see a coverage notice, message count and an estimate of how many messages will fit in the destination’s ~48 k character limit.
- Selective transfer – Choose to move all captured messages or only the most recent 20/50/100.
- Export / import – Save a conversation locally as Markdown or a
.chatpassport.jsonfile (≤ 25 MiB) and later reload it into another session. - Privacy‑first – No account, no API key, no remote server. All processing happens locally in the browser; only the selected assistant domains are accessed.
- No automatic sending – The extension never clicks Send; you review the draft and press the website’s own button.
How to use it
- Install from the Chrome Web Store and open a chat on a supported site.
