stemdeckapp/stemdeck

Stemdeck is an modern stem extraction platform for musicians, producers and hobbyists, designed to isolate vocals, drums, bass, piano and guitar for practice, transcription, remixing, and creative audio workflows through a modern and interactive interface

What it solves

StemDeck provides a free, local alternative to cloud-based audio stem separation services. It allows users to split a single audio track into multiple isolated components (stems) without requiring a subscription, account, or uploading files to a third-party server, ensuring privacy and eliminating costs.

How it works

The application uses Meta AI's open-source Demucs (htdemucs_6s) neural network to separate audio into up to six stems: vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano, and other. It runs locally on the user's machine, automatically detecting the best available hardware acceleration (NVIDIA CUDA, Apple Silicon MPS, or CPU). Users can import files (MP3, WAV, FLAC, etc.) or YouTube URLs, process them, and then manage the results in a DAW-style multitrack mixer.

Who it’s for

It is designed for musicians, students of music, and hobbyists who want to isolate specific instruments or vocals for study, practice, or creating custom mixes without relying on paid cloud services.
