Terminal pixel-art office for AI coding agents
What it solves
It eliminates the need to constantly switch between multiple terminal windows to monitor various AI coding agents. Instead of manually checking which agent is stuck, waiting for input, or finished, it provides a single, glanceable visual dashboard.
How it works
Pixtuoid transforms AI agent sessions into pixel-art characters in a virtual terminal office. It monitors agent activity via a hook shim (using Unix sockets or named pipes) and JSONL transcript watching. These events are processed into a state and rendered as half-block pixel art. The system is local-only and does not send data to any external servers.
Who it’s for
Developers who run multiple AI coding agents simultaneously and want a low-friction, visual way to track their progress and status.
Highlights
- Multi-agent Office: Each agent session is assigned a desk; new floors are added automatically as the office fills up.
- Visual Status Indicators: Characters animate based on activity (typing, waiting, or sleeping), and monitors glow different colors based on the tool being used (e.g., blue for Edit, orange for Bash).
- Token Tracking: Visual representations of paper piles on desks grow as agents consume tokens.
- Agent Dashboard: A collapsible tree view provides detailed stats, including tool-call counts and CLI types.
- Atmospheric Details: Includes synthesized lofi soundtracks, dynamic weather, day/night cycles, and interactable office pets.
- Floating Window: Can be run as a frameless, always-on-top desktop window.
