Your own personal AI assistant. Any OS. Any Platform. The lobster way. 🦞

What it solves

OpenClaw provides a way to run a personal AI assistant on your own devices rather than relying solely on cloud-based services. It solves the problem of fragmented AI access by acting as a single gateway that connects various AI models, tools, and messaging platforms into one unified interface.

How it works

The system is built around a central Gateway that serves as the local control plane for managing sessions, tools, and events. Users can interact with the assistant through a Control UI, CLI, or TUI. To make the assistant accessible where you already spend time, it connects to "Channels" (such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, and Discord). It can be extended with companion apps for device-local actions (like camera or screen access) and plugins for additional skills.

Who it’s for

It is designed for a single operator who wants a self-hosted AI assistant that integrates with their existing messaging apps and can perform local device actions.

Highlights

  • Multi-channel integration: Connects to WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Google Chat, Signal, and iMessage.
  • Flexible model support: Works with both hosted and local model providers.
  • Extensible architecture: Supports tools, skills, and plugins via a dedicated SDK and the ClawHub marketplace.
  • Cross-platform: Installable on macOS, Linux, and Windows.
