onevcat/Prowl
native macOS codings agent orchestrator
What it solves
Prowl addresses the difficulty of managing multiple AI coding agents running in parallel. When developers use various agents (like Claude Code or Codex) across different branches or worktrees, it becomes hard to track which agent is currently working, which one has finished, and which one is blocked and needs human intervention.
How it works
Prowl is a native macOS terminal application built on the Ghostty engine. It organizes AI agent sessions into a hierarchy of repositories, worktrees, tabs, and panes. It provides specialized views to monitor agents:
- Canvas: A zoomable board where every open tab is a live, interactive terminal card.
- Shelf: A vertical organization of worktrees and tabs for quick keyboard-driven triaging.
- Agent Island & Active Agents: Visual indicators (around the Mac notch or in a side panel) that flag agents as Blocked, Done, Working, or Idle.
It further automates the agent lifecycle through Agent Profiles (launch presets for specific models/runtimes), Agent Workflows (scripted multi-agent loops for tasks like review and handoff), and a prowl CLI that allows agents to programmatically read and control the terminal panes.
Who it’s for
Developers on macOS who use multiple AI coding agents simultaneously and need a centralized command center to coordinate their work without losing track of active sessions.
Highlights
- Parallel Agent Management: Monitor and interact with multiple live agent terminals simultaneously via Canvas and Shelf views.
- State Tracking: Instant visual cues for blocked or finished agents via Agent Island and the Active Agents roster.
- Agentic Automation: Create custom workflows (e.g., a Review Loop where one agent writes and another reviews) and launch agents via predefined profiles.
- Agent-Driven Terminal: A dedicated CLI that lets AI agents read pane output, send commands, and spawn helper agents.
- Native Performance: Built with libghostty for a high-performance, native macOS experience without Electron.
