A 1:1 Replica & 100% Open Source Claude Desktop
What it solves
OpenClaude Desktop gives you the exact Claude Desktop interface and features without needing a Claude account or paying Anthropic. It recreates the official app pixel-for-pixel, then lets you plug in any AI model you already have an API key for — so you keep your familiar workflow and your data stays on your Mac.
How it works
The official Claude Desktop components are sliced out of the real app using generators and run as-is, wrapped in a thin host layer that connects them to different AI "cores". You pick a core (DeepSeek is built in, plus Codex, Kimi, Qwen, Gemini, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint), then provide your provider's API key or base URL. The interface — sidebar, composer, transcript, tool rows, task lists, context breakdown, side chats, permission modes, and more — behaves just like the original. All settings and history are stored locally on your Mac, and only the conversation goes to the provider you chose.
Who it's for
People who like Claude Desktop's interface but prefer to use a different AI model, want to avoid a Claude subscription, or need to run models from multiple providers (DeepSeek, Codex, Kimi, Gemini, etc.) in the same polished UI. It requires a Mac with Apple silicon and Node.js 22.19+.
