macro-inc/macro

Macro is a unified workspace for teams: email, chat, docs, tasks, agents, calls, and CRM — @-linked together with shared AI memory.

What it solves

Macro addresses the fragmentation of startup operations by replacing a disconnected stack of tools (like Slack, Linear, Notion, and HubSpot) with a single, unified "operating system." It eliminates the need to switch between disparate apps and prevents critical company context from being lost in silos, making the entire organization's data computable and searchable.

How it works

Macro organizes work into modular "blocks" (Email, Messages, Tasks, Docs, Canvas, Agents, Calls, File Storage, Pull Requests, and CRM) that all share a single backend. This architecture allows for bidirectional @linking, where a mention of a task in an email or a company record in a chat creates a native, two-way connection. The system uses CRDTs for real-time document collaboration and a Rust-based backend for speed. It also integrates a team-level memory system that synthesizes data from across all blocks into a markdown-based knowledge base for AI agents.

Who it’s for

Small companies or teams within larger organizations that want a centralized, high-performance workspace to manage their communications, project tracking, and customer relationships.

Highlights

  • Unified Workspace: Combines email, chat, tasks, and CRM into one interface with a single unified inbox.
  • Team-Level AI Memory: Agents have access to a synthesized memory of all team activities (emails, DMs, tasks) rather than just individual chat histories.
  • Bidirectional Graph: Every entity in the workspace is @linked, allowing users to trace the full chain from a customer email to a task, then to an agent, and finally to a pull request.
  • Agent-Native Editing: AI agents can operate as peers in the CRDT collaboration system to edit documents and maintain team context automatically.
  • MCP Integration: Provides a Model Context Protocol (MCP) surface that allows external AI agents to perform nearly any action available in the Macro UI.
