Python wrapper for the arXiv API
What it solves
This project provides a simple way to interact with the arXiv API using Python. It removes the need to manually handle HTTP requests, URL formatting, and data parsing when searching for or retrieving scientific papers from the arXiv database.
How it works
The library uses a Client object to manage connections to the arXiv API. You define a Search object with your criteria—such as keywords, specific IDs, or sorting preferences—and pass it to the client. The client then fetches the data and returns Result objects, which contain all the metadata for the papers found. You can also use the client to download PDF files or source files directly.
Who it’s for
It is designed for researchers, developers, and data scientists who need to programmatically access, search, or download academic papers from arXiv for their own applications or data analysis workflows.
Highlights
- Simple interface for searching by keyword or specific paper ID.
- Built-in support for pagination and automatic retries to handle large requests reliably.
- Allows for custom client configuration, including adjustable delays and page sizes to respect API limits.
- Provides easy access to download links for both PDFs and source files.
- Includes logging capabilities to help monitor network requests and API interactions.
