Claude Desktop Chinese Patch (macOS & Windows & Linux)

What it solves

Claude Desktop does not natively support Chinese. This project provides a local interface patch to add Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), and Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong) to the application across macOS, Windows, and Linux.

How it works

The project uses platform-specific installation scripts to modify the Claude Desktop installation. It injects Chinese language resources, updates the application's language whitelist, and modifies the user configuration to set the locale. Depending on the chosen installation mode, it may modify the app.asar file to provide DOM translation for the online account pages (claude.ai) and bypass local model name validation for third-party gateways.

Who it’s for

Chinese-speaking users of Claude Desktop who want a localized interface on their desktop computers.

Highlights

  • Multi-platform support: One-click installation scripts for macOS, Windows, and Linux (deb package).
  • Multiple Chinese variants: Supports zh-CN, zh-TW, and zh-HK.
  • Advanced patching modes: Offers options for full patching (including online page DOM translation) or lighter patches that avoid structural changes to app.asar for better compatibility with certain tools like Cowork.
  • Experimental Frida support: Provides a runtime memory patch via Frida to avoid modifying files on disk.
  • Automatic backups: Automatically backs up original application files before applying patches to allow for easy restoration.
  • Model validation bypass: On macOS, the full patch can bypass local Anthropic model name checks for third-party API gateways.
