AI coding limit resets and extra usage, with original sources.

What it is.

free-ai-coding is a GitHub repository that tracks reset announcements for usage limits on three AI coding tools: Codex (OpenAI), Claude Code (Anthropic), and Grok Bot (xAI). When these tools reset their usage caps for paid users, the project records the announcement and links to the original source.

How you use it.

You subscribe to get notified when a reset is announced. The README offers two ways:

  1. Watch this repository for combined updates. Set GitHub to Watch → Custom → Releases.
  2. Watch a dedicated alerts repo per tool — one each for Codex, Claude Code, and Grok Bot — if you only care about one tool.

There is also a companion website, Next Reset (link: inmve.github.io/next-reset/), mentioned but not described further in the README.

Current status (as recorded in the README).

  • Codex / OpenAI: A reset has been announced but not yet confirmed. The announcement quotes a source saying it covers "all paid users across codex and ChatGPT work." No date given. Source: @thsottiaux on X, dated 2026-09-26.
  • Claude Code / Anthropic: No newer announcement is recorded. A "banked" reset was announced on 2026-09-22, via Anthropic on X. The README advises checking your account for availability and eligibility.
  • Grok Bot / xAI: No newer announcement is recorded. The last confirmed reset was on 2026-09-05, via @bot on X, and applies to Grok Bot only.

The README does not explain what a "banked" reset means, how often resets happen, or what exactly triggers a reset announcement — it simply reports what the tool providers posted.

What it does not do.

The project does not check your account or tell you whether you personally got a reset. It only tracks public announcements from the tool providers and surfaces them in one place.
